In Isao Fujisawa’s poetic, surreal work, two young people undertake a doomed summer road trip through Japan, which in turn reflects on the dissipating promise of 1960s counterculture and free love. Bye Bye Love was long considered lost until a film negative was recently discovered. This new print gives audiences a rare chance to revisit a bold and radical queer work from 1974.
